2024 HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR - SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Scholarships of $1000.00 will be given to graduating high school seniors with demonstrated academic ability and community service.  More than one scholarship will be given. Scholarships will be granted based on the criteria listed below.

 

Criteria: A High School senior graduating this current year:

  • Active community service,

  • Acceptance to an institution of higher learning, Historically Black Colleges, and Universities will have priority; however, all applications will be evaluated. (Letter of acceptance required)

  • A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above (4.0 scale)

  • Students must live in the City of Detroit, Michigan.

 

Student selection will be based on the following:

  • Academic ability

  • Active community involvement

  • Financial need

  • One recommendation from one of the following, teachers, ministers, community leaders, or counselors

Interview by the PHI BETA SIGMA FRATERNITY, INC., XI BETA SIGMA CHAPTER Scholarship Committee.

PHI BETA SIGMA FRATERNITY, INC., XI BETA SIGMA CHAPTER must receive the application and all accompanying material listed below on or before May 31,  2024, at 11:59 pm.

Please type or computer generate all information.  Applications that are incomplete or received after the due date will not be considered for funding. Decisions of the Scholarship Committee are final. Your application was not successful if you have not heard from the committee by July 30, 2024.

Be sure your application includes:

  • Background and family information, 

  • Describe Your Community Involvement,

  • Awards, Honors, Extra Curricular Activities,

  • Official Transcripts

  • College Acceptance Letter(s)

  • List all other financial aid

  • Answer questions:

  • What are your future goals?

  • Why should you be a recipient of this scholarship?  

  • One recommendation.
